In response to your memo about the progress on the development of fire,
here is a status report of everything we have found so
far.
Ooo was successful in creating fire on one occasion though he has not
been able to recreate the fire again. We are trying
different combinations of rocks to bang together and sticks to rub
but so far we get only a few sparks. Ooo thinks that the
sparks are God and I have to keep reminding him to get back to work,
each time he almost makes a fire a spark pops up and
he leaps away and then lays on the ground flat on his face praying
to the spark. I think if I can keep him working on fire past
the point of the spark we might make a little more progress.
Gui has not been much help, every time I try to give him a piece of wood,
he runs off with it come back dragging a woman back
by the hair. Needless to say this not only is putting back production,
but has caused us to be subject to several litigations
involving assault. The court date is set to the sixth new moon.
Bob is even less help. He took a stick from Ooo's original fire
and started drawing smiley faces all over the cave walls. So far
we have covered up most of the smiley faces with pictures of buffalo
and deer but this has set our work back tremendously.
If I can get Ooo, Gui, and Bob to work together on this with me I think
we can master fire before next snow fall and we can
start on that wheel project you keep talking about.
